What Causes Air Problems

We know that we have problems with pollution in the air. Much of this is caused by modern living, traffic fumes, factory fumes and over consumption of heating and resources such as oil and gas affect our atmosphere. What most people don’t realize is that the air in our homes is probably even more polluted than the air outside it. You may refute this claim, but just take a few minutes to think about it. Are there any identifiable smells in your home, if there are, then you have air problems. Smoking, pets and the dust that accumulates from shedded skin and airborne particles are all causes of air pollution – and they all affect the air within our homes.

Air pollution causes crops to wither and die and it causes breathing and skin allergies – experts tell us that in recent years the number of people presenting with allergies of one sort or another has steadily increased. The fact that in the West we use more than our fair share of energy, we ride in cars, fly in planes and use factory made goods. The lifestyle of people in the west is, experts tell us, one of the main causes of global air pollution.

When we ask what causes air pollution? – We should look very closely at our own lives. Too many cars, too many factories and a throwaway society might be seen as the main cause of air pollution. Many people will say that electric companies cause air pollution – certainly the amount of electricity that we use per capita contributes to the rise in air pollution. So we might say that modern life is the cause of air pollution.

Smoke, smells, mites, dust and pet dander are all sources of indoor air pollution. Our electric cleaners, washers, the chemicals we use, and goodness knows what, causes air pollution. We have had some examples of things that cause air pollution – so we know something about the causes and effects of air pollution. Some people may ask, are factories the main cause of air pollution? – The truth of the matter is that air pollution is cause by many things, some of which have been mentioned here. If every time we did the washing we asked ourselves do laundry detergents cause air pollution – then we might use less detergent, or do the laundry less often.
